A series opening is an art composition consisting of visual and sound elements placed at the beginning of a television programme or series and serves to convey a certain atmosphere, to introduce the story and identify the brand, as well as to communicate with the audience. The results of the study will provide a better understanding of the role of the introductory opening in forming viewer ratings and will allow conclusions to be drawn about which elements of opening design contribute to successful audience engagement with video content. The main part of the research is based on a pre-compiled list of questions for each opening, which is designed to unify the analytical approach during the study: the name of the series, year of broadcast, genre and position in the rating. At the end we performed the analysis of artistic techniques, search for metaphors and hidden messages from the creators.
