Digital Transformation of the Mining Enterprise and Its Supply Chain

This thesis delves into the importance of embracing changes, within the mining sector with a focus on a gold mining company based in Russia. As technology evolves industries are increasingly encouraged to adopt advancements such as devices, the Internet of Things (IoT) Big Data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence to stay competitive and sustainable. Despite the significance of these technologies the mining industry has been slow to incorporate them. The research aims to bridge the gap in mining by exploring how Industry 4.0 can meet the industry's needs. It examines how digital transformation can improve efficiency and cut costs in mining. Through an in depth analysis of company's operations this study highlights how digital transformation could benefit the company. Divided into three core sections this thesis first discusses trends in transformation and their relevance to mining followed by an assessment of company's current business processes and systems. The final chapter proposes a framework, for transforming company's mining operations.
