Evolution of Cooperation between India and the USA in the Field of Civil High Technologies in 2014-2023

Technologies influence both the internal development of states and their position in the international arena. Indian technology policy began to take shape in the 1990s. Its main goal was to solve socio-economic problems. The Narendra Modi government has placed even more emphasis on technology and has decided to make it a means of making the country independent and self-sufficient. To achieve this goal, India needs a strong partner, which the United States has taken its place. The deterioration of US-China relations has contributed to the rapprochement between India and the United States. For the United States, India has become a counterweight to China and a promising direction for reorienting production. The interaction between India and the US in the technology sector reached its peak with the signing of the ICET initiative, which served as a framework for intensifying cooperation. The Narendra Modi government continues to pursue a cautious balancing act and is not ready to fully follow US guidance. Therefore, US-India technology cooperation is indeed moving forward, but only as long as it does not contradict national interests.
