Abstract The purpose of this paper was to develop the main directions of development strategies of PJSC Raspadskaya. This company is engaged in production and primary processing of coking coal. The value chain starts with the exploration of new deposits and ends with the sale of coking coal or coal concentrate to metallurgical plants. We have defined the operating conditions of the external environment as uncertain. In this context of uncertainty we understand the unpredictable variability of political and economic conditions. We have taken this variability as a basis for developing new main directions of development. The objectives we set for ourselves were as follows: to make a general assessment of the development of coking coal mining companies in the Russian Federation; to identify pain points in their development; to identify growth triggers; to study the effects of economic sanctions and their impact on the reorientation of coal industry companies' sales markets; to review publications on pig iron production; to justify the choice of analytical tools that we will use to determine the strategic prospects of PJSC Raspadskaya; to determine the role of Raspadskaya in the development of the company's business; to determine the role of the company in the development of the Russian coal industry. assess the competitive environment of Raspadskaya, evaluate the existing development strategy of Raspadskaya; analyse the alternatives of strategic directions and development paths of Raspadskaya and choose the optimal path; provide recommendations on the development of a new development strategy of Raspadskaya according to qualitative performance criteria. In the course of our work, we have come to the conclusion that the company has coped well with the challenges associated with changes in the geopolitical situation for the industry's enterprises, and in this connection with the reorientation of sales markets from west to east. Although at the present moment the logistic problem is not completely solved. The main problem facing Raspadskaya now is the volatility of global coking coal prices. This is a pain point in the company's development. In the development of the new development strategy, we suggested the following changes: revise the pricing strategy and relations with partners in the external and domestic markets; implement a long-term logistics strategy related to optimisation of cargo delivery to APR countries; improve financial planning in order to ensure a smoother net profit inflow.
