Year of Graduation: 2024

The topic of the graduation project of the author of this visual research is a comedy comic with the elements of a sitcom with the target audience being late teenagers and young adults. Due to transferring of the approach of the genre to the format of a comic book the range of the typical jokes and comedy cliches the author is able to use gets reduced (for example, the comedic timing or voice-related jokes become irrelevant), which leads to the increase of the weight of the visual jokes importance, and to do this efficiently this visual research was accomplished. During the work on this research the approach to the costume design in various variations of a sitcom was observed and it's role was analysed, and the results were applied to and compared with the character archetypes to find out whether certain tropes hold specific key traits and how often those occur. In the end the costume design was succcessfully researched, however the hypothesis of the existence of key traits for every character archetype was only partially confirmed.
