Research topic: The Position of the Verb in the System of Parts of Speech in Modern Chinese Language (Based on the Works of Feng Jicai). The proposed study aims to examine the position and function of verbs in the system of parts of speech in Modern Chinese, as well as to describe their grammatical features. The study analyses the theoretical works of domestic and foreign scientists in the field of Modern Chinese grammar. It focuses on the grammatical, semantic, and syntactic characteristics of Chinese verbs and explains the importance of verbs in sentence construction. The proposed study adopts a descriptive research design and uses various methods, including content analysis, comparative analysis, linguistic observation and analysis, as well as system-structural, descriptive-narrative and classification methods. In the first chapter of the study, the criteria for the allocation of parts of speech in modern Chinese are analyzed and several classifications of parts of speech of modern Chinese proposed by different scientists are considered. In the second chapter, the classifications of verbs of the modern Chinese language, presented by domestic and foreign linguists, are studied in detail. The most common are verb classifications based on syntactic criteria. In the third chapter, the authors of the study formulate their own classification of verbs of the modern Chinese language, which includes the most numerous verb groups. Further, all general and particular grammatical characteristics of the verb groups included in the classification are described in detail and sequentially, which is the purpose of this study. The findings of this study can serve as a theoretical basis for future research in linguistics, philology, and translation studies due to the close relationship between these fields. Keywords: linguistic typology, parts of speech, Chinese language, grammar, verb, semantics, linguistics, syntax.
