The Impact of the Economic Transformation in China on the Country's Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the XXI Century

The purpose of this thesis is to assess the impact of the main economic and social factors of carbon dioxide emissions in China in the period from 2001 to 2022. To achieve this goal, the following research tasks were performed: the features of the development of the Chinese economic model from the late 1970s to the early 2000s were studied; the main factors affecting carbon dioxide emissions were identified; the methodological approaches aimed at assessing the factors of change in carbon dioxide emissions were systematized; the features of the transformation of the economic development model and its relationship with carbon dioxide emissions in China in the XXI century were identified; the impact of factors of change in carbon dioxide emissions in China was assessed. During the study, a set of methods was used, among which we can mention correlation and regression analysis and comparative analysis. The first chapter outlines the theoretical framework of the study: it characterizes the successive development of China's economic model from the late 1970s to the early 2000s, examines the main factors affecting the change in carbon dioxide emissions, and considers various methodological approaches to their assessment. The second chapter contains a study of the transformation of China's economic development model from 2001 to 2022, as well as estimates of the country's carbon dioxide emissions during this period and the main reduction targets and measures. The third chapter quantitatively analyzes the factors of change in China's carbon dioxide emissions from 2001 to 2022. In addition, a projection is made for a reduction in the growth rate of carbon dioxide emissions until 2030.
