Currently, in China, as in the world as a whole, there is a trend of population aging, the percentage of the elderly population is increasing, and at the same time the relevance and importance of issues such as pension provision is growing. In China, the pension system combines the features of distributive and accumulative systems, while the basic state pension rate is formed in each province separately. There are a number of problems in the pension system of the People's Republic of China that require special attention: different pension provision for rural and urban residents, increased pension burden and others. The Chinese Government is taking active measures to improve and improve the pension system. The purpose of this study is to identify the specifics of the implementation of pension policy during the reign of Xi Jinping and the main factors of public perception of the pension system. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the texts of five-year plans, official data, annual reports, statistical data from the websites of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Civil Administration of the People's Republic of China, the National Bureau of Statistics of the People's Republic of China, etc. Keywords: pension policy, China, Xi Jinping, basic pension insurance, five-year plans.
