In the modern economy, venture capital investment is an important tool to support innovative development and search for new ways of economic growth. The modern venture capital market abroad is experiencing dynamic growth, facing various internal and external challenges. Since the venture capital investment market largely depends on economic and political changes, new constraints and at the same time opportunities for development are constantly being created. Venture capital investment plays a special role in the Russian economy, which is striving to overcome such internal and external constraints as economic sanctions and limited access to global capital investments. Due to the external constraints of the Russian economy, it is necessary to look for new ways to develop markets that are less dependent on international capital. Thus, the relevance of the chosen topic lies in the need to develop innovative companies through the application of investment practices that do not depend on foreign investments. This will allow us to form a more independent model of venture business development in Russia. The purpose of this work is to study the potential, limitations and prospects of venture business development in Russia based on the analysis of the experience of closed economies, business cases of Russian and foreign companies and existing corporate investment strategies.
