This master's thesis is an analysis of the rhetoric of royal power in Sir T. Malory's Le Morte Darthur. Maloty's romance was written during the War of the Roses (1455-1485). The hardships of this war have greatly influenced the themes of Le Morte Darthur. In my work, I analyzed the images of kings and their behavior presented in Le Morte d'Arthur. The purpose of my work was to identify how royal power is shown in Malory's Le Morte Darthur and to establish for what purpose Malory represents it in this particular way. The goal of my work was to distinguish the peculiarities of the rhetoric of royal power in Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur and explore its socio-political context. As a result of the work, it was possible to establish that the representation of royal power in Le Morte d'Arthur reflects the concepts of political theory and philosophy of the 15th century, as well as the socio-political discourse of its time. The rhetoric of royal power in Malory's work is clearly didactic in nature and aims to demonstrate the negative consequences of the king's inappropriate behavior.
