Peculiarities of Perception of Chinese Gardening Art in Russia, Great Britain, USA, Germany, the Netherlands and Canada in the XX-XXI Centuries Keywords: history, chinoiserie, case-study, landscape art, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Canada The spread of the chinoiserie style in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries is an important process in history, but it is much more interesting for researchers to draw parallels with modernity, when landscape art is actively adopting Chinese traditions again. Recent research has raised concerns about the influence of interstate relations on the created parks and gardens due to China's growing importance in the international arena.  Due to the strengthening of China's position on the international stage and the country's increasing influence on global processes, this topic is of great relevance. By strengthening its position, China claims to establish a “new architecture of global security and co-development” and play a key role in solving world problems. To implement its ideas, the PRC is not only strengthening its economic potential and military-strategic development, but also pays special attention to humanitarian influence, which has become known to the whole world under the term “soft power”. The purpose of this research is to take the Chinese gardens of Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States and Canada as an example to study the main characteristics of the reception  of Chinese landscape art in Europe and North America in the XX-XXI century. Chinese landscape art as well as Chinoiserie style has been the subject of extensive research in both Russian and foreign historiography. This research presents a compilation of theoretical materials by Russian, Chinese and Western authors, as well as supplementing it with collected photographic materials from official pages of parks and gardens on social networks, thereby drawing conclusions about the linkage between interstate relations and the reception of landscape art.  Through research, we’ve analysed the relationship between the countries during the construction of the parks and gardens and concluded that during the period of improving interaction, establishing cooperation or strengthening the relationship between the two countries, the level of reception increased or occurred. Chinese-style gardens and parks could be used as tools of reconciliation or as physical symbols of relations between the two countries. We selected 13 Chinese-style gardens and parks in Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States and Canada to apply the case study method and evaluate the degree of reception.
