Description of Gear Mechanism as an Aspect of Inter-generational Transfer and Its Manifestation in Life and Creative Works of Serge Gainsbourg

Intergenerational transmission is one of the mechanisms that determine a person’s mental functioning, and therefore his fate. Unlike conscious beneficial transmission from one generation to the next, transgenerational transmission is unconscious, hidden from all participants in the process, and most often involves the transfer of tragic and traumatic experiences. Currently, in the psychoanalytic environment, the existence of transgenerational transmission is widely recognized and cannot be doubted. Many authors have studied the topic of intergenerational transmission and the atmosphere, especially the consequences of severe social trauma. The purpose of the thesis is a theoretical analysis of mental processes and conditions leading to transgenerational transmission, a study of the nature of gear mechanism - as a mechanism of mental transfer of intergenerational trauma. In our work, we rely on the views of representatives of the psychoanalytic school and the experience of clinical practice with patients in the psychoanalytic approach. In the practical part of the work, we analyze the biography and creative works of Serge Gainsbourg and consider the manifestations of transgenerational transmission, mental gearing and other symptoms that led Gainsbourg to severe somatizations and relatively early death. The history of any country is largely written by the events leading to collective trauma and their consequences. Also, the history of any family is full of secret meanings, behind which transgenerational traumatization is hidden. Based on this, the study of different aspects of the phenomenon of intergenerational transmission can hardly ever lose relevance, and in some periods it becomes even more in demand.
