ِAn integral part of culture and international communication is humor and its implementation (in which situations which jokes are to be said). However, the Arab sense of humor is still a highly understudied field although such an unawareness may cause an unwanted misunderstanding during either high-profile negotiations or an everyday conversation. The study has aimed at indicating general patterns of the Arab sense of humor through investigation of certain genres of medieval Arab anecdotes. Particular groups of anecdotes have been examined separately and therefore the outcomes were united in order to conduct comprehensive analysis of the data. Here are a couple of results: one of the most popular humor objects are ridiculousness and insults. Also there are a lot of jokes that are grounded in language use. In addition to this, it is obvious that the examined anecdotes did not go along with moral principles postulated for a medieval society. Keywords: Arabs, humor, anecdote, joke pattern
