The purpose of this research is to determine the role and potential of China in the development of BRICS at the present stage. The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the scale of China's influence on the BRICS activities. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of China's active cooperation with other BRICS countries in the economic, political and other spheres. The purpose of this study is to determine the role and potential of China in the development of BRICS at the present stage. 108 sources were used to write the work, including legal sources (BRICS declarations, international agreements, etc.), Internet sources, media sources, monographs and scientific articles in Russian, English and Chinese.In the modern global economic and political system, the role of international institutional associations is difficult to overestimate. BRICS has a clear tendency to rapidly expand in recent years, as well as its member countries. It poses a serious challenge to the established world order. This international institution is of particular importance in the modern relations between different countries which have gone through considerable changes. These changes are related to the recent pandemic, as well as the sanctions war gathering its pace straight away. One of the leading roles in BRICS today belongs to China. China is one of the world's the most rapidly growing economic systems. The scholarly inquiry of the contribution and potency of the PRC in the BRICS is of great theoretical and practical importance. The results of this study can be applied in various fields, including educational activities, economic, political, and international trade activities.
