The aim of the thesis is to determine how the Sudanese legal field and its institutional system regulate the status and situation of refugees and internally displaced persons during the armed conflict of 2023-2024. To achieve this goal, the following research objectives were accomplished: to clarify the circumstances of the origin of the categories of "refugees" and "internally displaced persons" in Sudan in the light of international law and 20th century Sudanese history; to determine how the Sudanese legal field regulates the status and situation of refugees and internally displaced persons and how this regulation manifests itself during the armed conflict of 2023-2024; to identify how institutions within Sudan regulate the status and situation of refugees and internally displaced persons; to identify how Sudanese institutions regulate the status and situation of refugees and internally displaced persons; and to identify how Sudanese institutions regulate the status and situation of refugees and internally displaced persons. Chapter One provides an overview of the concepts of refugee and internally displaced person and the history of refugee and IDP movements in Sudan. The second chapter examines the regulation of the status and situation of refugees and IDPs from the perspective of international law and the Sudanese legal system, and looks at the specific steps that various Sudanese institutions have taken in implementing legal regulation during the current armed conflict in the country.
