The problem of choice is interdisciplinary, covering areas from philosophy to economics. In addition, with the advent of a new sphere of social relations, it appears where it did not exist before - as, for example, in the field of fetal medicine, where developmental science makes it possible today to diagnose rare fetal diseases in the early stages, raising before parents the main question of maintaining pregnancy . The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of choosing to prolong pregnancy in a situation of fetal anomaly. The objectives of the study are to describe, compare and generalize the experience of such choices made by all women during pregnancy. Due to the exploratory nature of the study, it is qualitative, based on phenomenological methodology. The method of data collection is in-depth semi-structured interviews, the method of data analysis is inductive thematic analysis. As part of the acceptance of participation, women who realized the presence of a critical congenital heart defect in the fetus, had the opportunity to terminate the pregnancy due to circumstances, but refused to do so. The results of the study contribute to the development of reproductive and perinatal psychology, and may also be important for the practice of psychological counseling and psychotherapy.
