Representation of the Holocaust in Israeli Contemporary Art

This thesis explores the representation of the Holocaust in contemporary Israeli art, focusing on the work of third generation artists. The study analyzes the changes in approaches to Holocaust representation since the 1990s, when new artists began to seek innovative methods of expression Special attention is paid to the challenges faced by artists in their efforts to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and to find new forms of expression that can provoke reflection and discussion. The work also explores the relationship between Holocaust narratives and contemporary traumatic events such as the Arab-Israeli conflict, highlighting the role of art in depoliticizing these narratives and creating spaces for dialogue. The paper consists of an introduction, a main part consisting of 3 chapters, a conclusion and an illustrative appendix. Keywords: Holocaust, Third Generation, Conceptual Art
