Reasons for the Ineffectiveness of Gender Policy in Japan in the Field of Labor and Employment in 2010–2022

This study is devoted to the analysis of gender policy in Japan in the field of labor and employment during the period 2010–2022. It examines the reasons for the ineffectiveness of the measures taken by the Japanese government in for eliminating gender inequality and attracting women to the national economy. This study is intended to characterize the main vectors of gender policy in contemporary Japan through the analysis of primary and secondary sources and identify the peculiarities and problems of the labor and employment market in modern Japan. The practical part is based on the comparative analysis of the data obtained on the results of gender policy in Japan within the framework of government programs. The major conclusion of this study is that structural and legislative challenges to closing the gender gap and the lack of alignment of government motivations with program goals are the main obstacles to achieving gender equality.
