Retaining Teachers in Russian General Education Institutions: Problems, Methods, Perspectives

Retention of teachers in Russian general education schools is one of the most important problems of modern education, primarily related to staff shortages. At the moment, the existing teaching staff is inevitably aging, while the influx of young specialists is insufficient. To solve this problem, the state is taking various decisions at the federal and regional levels, but so far they have not brought any special results. The paper examines the main reasons for the departure of teaching staff from schools, as well as analyzes methods and strategies that can help increase teacher satisfaction and reduce staff turnover. The purpose of this work is to identify retention methods, as well as problems in the field of retention of young teachers in general education institutions and to propose ways to solve them. The study analyzes modern approaches to personnel management in educational institutions, examines the role of management and administration in creating a favorable working environment for teaching staff. In this work, methods of retaining teachers in schools were identified; the influence of various factors on the decision of teachers to leave school or stay. Based on the analysis of scientific literature and interviews with teachers, the director and the expert, recommendations were developed for the authorities to solve a number of problems of retaining specialists in educational institutions.
