This paper examines the influence of various factors on the performance (return on assets) and investment attractiveness (Tobin coefficient) of Russian retail companies. It provides an assessment of how the operational efficiency, solvency, profitability and development of the company affect the return on assets and investment attractiveness (Tobin coefficient Q) of retail companies. Using data from 2012-2023, the study uses regression analysis on panel data with fixed effects to highlight the impact of these factors, demonstrating significant relationships such as the negative impact of financial leverage and the positive impact of profitability on the ROA and Tobin coefficient of retail companies. The work also revealed a significant positive impact of operational efficiency on these indicators. Moreover, the results of the work showed that an increase in liquidity leads to an increase in the Tobin coefficient. This study fills a gap in the scientific literature by providing empirical data to analyze the effectiveness and investment attractiveness of retail trade in the Russian market, which has not been previously implemented. The results aim to provide stakeholders with strategic data to strengthen resilience and promote growth in an environment of economic instability.
