The Influence of the Individual Characteristics of the Players Who Joined the Football Team on Their Adaptation During the First Season

The article is devoted to the study of the influence of individual characteristics of players who transferred to a football team on their adaptation during their first playing season. The study includes data on 6 leading European leagues from the 2000/2001 season to the winter transfer window of 2023. Regression analysis by ordinary least squares (OLS) method is used to study this relationship. It is found that transfer compensation and the age of the soccer player have a non-linear effect on his adaptation rate. In addition, the match of the player's national language with the language of the team's country has an important effect on the adaptation of players of all positions except goalkeepers. The fact of transfer on loan is also significant.
