This article focuses on the Indian Track of Japan's foreign policy in the context of security in the Indo-Pacific, its objectives and their implementation in 2007-2022. The aim is to identify the importance of India for security in the IP from the perspective of Japan's foreign policy strategy. S. Walt's “balance of threats” theory is used to study the security behavior of these countries in the region. Through this theory, factors which define the relationship between Japan and India will be analyzed. This study reveals implementation of Japan’s Indian strategy in terms of security in 2007–2022. It is expected that this study will provide new results in researching the relationship between India and Japan in security context through application of the “balance of threats” theory. Furthermore, the article examines the Indian trajectory of Tokyo’s foreign policy strategy objectives and their implementation. The following methods were used in the work: systemic analysis of international relations, document analysis and political-descriptive method. India is one of Japan's foreign policy priorities, primarily due to growing Chinese influence. Cooperation with New Delhi is achieved through joint economic projects, the formation of a common vision for the region, as well as activities within the Quad.
