The phenomenon of leadership is one of the most interesting and relevant topics in modern society. This dissertation will examine this apparent paradox - the relationship between leadership and personal achievement using the example of the famous trilogy by American writer Theodore Dreiser. Theodore Dreiser, known for his critical view of American culture and society, in his trilogy (The Financier, Titan, and Stoic) explores the growth of the main characters from ordinary people to true leaders and then their downfall caused by ambition, dissatisfaction, or inability to overcome inner demons. The paper considers various concepts of leadership, its types and characteristics. Special attention is paid to analyzing the evolution of leaders in Dreiser's trilogy and the devastating impact of external and internal factors on their path to success, which determines the relevance of this paper. The hypothesis of the study is that the personal leadership qualities of the protagonist of the trilogy significantly influence his manner of seeing business and making strategic decisions. The purpose of the study was to analyze Theodore Dreiser's trilogy and identify his main concepts of functional leadership in business. A study of the human qualities required to achieve a high leadership position was conducted and the characteristics and complexities of assuming a leadership role were identified. The research methods included structuring, systematization, generalization, analysis and synthesis. The dissertation consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and a list of references. The volume of the main text is 60 pages. The bibliographic list has 50 titles, 25 of which are in foreign languages.
