Environmental Discourse in South Korean Media from 2017 to 2023

This study examines environmental discourse in the media of the Republic of Korea from 2017 to 2023. The relevance of the topic is due to the high importance of environmental policy for South Korea, as well as the special role of the media in the context of the topic of ecology. The purpose of the work is to determine the most relevant topics on the environmental agenda in the media of the Republic of Korea during the designated period of time. To achieve this goal, it was found out what the main directions of the environmental policy of the Republic of Korea exist, the key environmental problems were characterized, and it was also determined which media are the main ones in promoting the environmental agenda. The study used quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis, including discourse analysis, content analysis and corpus analysis. As a result of the study, it was found out which topics were most relevant in the environmental agenda of Korea in the last 7 years, how the most discussed topics changed and what changes the interest of Korean media readers in the topic of ecology underwent.
