The Impact of Trade Digitalization on the Trade Policy of the European Union

This work is dedicated to analyzing the impact of digitalization on the trade policy of the European Union. The first chapter examines theoretical approaches to defining the essence of digital trade, identifies terminological inaccuracies among Russian researchers, and conducts a comparative analysis with the terminology of international organizations. The chapter also explores the influence of digitalization on the development of international trade and the economic growth of countries, highlighting key positive and negative aspects. The second chapter presents an econometric analysis demonstrating the positive impact of digitalization on EU exports and examines the approaches of the EU, China, and the USA to forming digital trade policies. It also analyzes the influence of digitalization on the EU's trade policy instruments, identifies the characteristics of the EU's digital trade policy, and reviews regulatory steps at various levels. The third chapter proposes a digital trade policy development index based on the expert evaluation method, and forecasts the directions of the evolution of the EU's digital trade policy.
