This study examines the impact of corporate governance on the competitiveness of private and public organizations in the Russian fuel and energy sector. The authors analyze the principles of corporate governance and its role in determining competitiveness, using dynamic, financial, and regression analysis methods. As a result, they identified industry leaders among both private and public companies. PJSC «RusHydro» and PJSC «Sakhalin Energy» were found to be the most competitive state-owned companies, while PJSC «Lukoil», PJSC «Raspadskaya», PJSC «Unipro», and PJSC «Inter RAO», JSC «NK» Neftisa» and JSC «Kuzbassrazrezugol» emerged as leaders among private companies. Additionally, the study demonstrated that corporate governance is a significant factor in determining the success of these companies in the fuel and energy market. Regression analysis showed that good corporate governance practices are essential for achieving and maintaining competitiveness in this industry. It was also found that the proportion of independent directors is significant for private companies, while the G-rating indicators are more relevant for government organizations. The study was conducted in the following manner: 1. Prots Maria Olegovna was responsible for the theoretical aspects of the research, including the collection and review of scientific literature and data. She also gathered and analyzed data on the competitiveness and financial performance of all the companies under study. 2. Ershova Vlada Vadimovna conducted the practical aspect of the research, which involved data processing, statistical analysis, and the presentation of the findings in the report.
