This paper intends to examine the impact of housing allowances on the price of rental housing prices, which is a commonly anticipated effect among researchers. A representative sample of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries was chosen due to their developed social benefits and open data policies. The study provides a comprehensive analysis of these relationships drawing on data from the OECD database and other relevant studies. The research method employed is panel data regression. In contrast to prior research, this study is based on macro-level data and allows comparisons of a large number of countries over a 40-year period (1980-2021). The findings of the study indicate that the introduction of benefits did not result in a change in the price of rent. However, a negative correlation was observed between the cost of housing and government spending on housing policy.
