This final qualification paper explores the entrepreneurial activity of migrants in the Russian labour market. The theoretical part of the paper considers the main concepts and approaches to the study of migration and entrepreneurship, and analyses existing research on this topic. The empirical part of the paper analyses the entrepreneurial activity of foreign migrants in Russia and assesses the differences in the chances of foreign migrants and local workers to choose an entrepreneurial activity. The empirical analysis was based on data from the Russian Monitoring of the Economic Situation and Health of the Population of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (RLMS HSE). The main results of the study show that entrepreneurship is a common form of employment among migrants. Econometric analyses indicate that the chances of choosing entrepreneurship are higher among migrants compared to local workers. As additional results of the paper, estimates of factors of entrepreneurial choice such as education level, marital status, presence of minor children, locality, whether the respondent smokes or not are obtained. The results obtained are important for the development of effective measures to support entrepreneurial activity among migrants and can be used in the formation of state policy in the field of migration and entrepreneurship.
