Healthy Workplace as Factor of a Professional Work Engagement

Today, both business and academic environment are interested in ways to maintain work engagement – a positive state of employees characterized by passion and enthusiasm in performing work tasks. High-quality filling of office space, providing employees with opportunities for restore, can be a resource of engagement. However, most studies do not take into account the physical environment in the analysis of engagement resources, and do not investigate the intersection of the physical environment with other drivers. The current research relationships between the quality of the office environment, its restorative ability, work engagement and the personal authenticity of employees of Russian organizations were analyzed. The study was conducted in cross-sectional correlation design using a battery of questionnaires, including a newly developed questionnaire for assessing the quality of the office environment “People in Office” (POS). The results showed that the most important resources for maintaining engagement in work are attractiveness, ergonomics of the space, its clarity, compliance with the goals and personality of the employee.
