Due to Oracle's withdrawal from the Russian Federation market, many companies have encountered problems in using the technology giant's software, including the Oracle Database management system. This forced companies to look for analogs of products already in use and start the process of migrating to them. One of the main competitors of Oracle Database is the freely distributed and open source PostgreSQL DBMS. This paper discusses the main differences between these two systems, their main advantages and disadvantages, as well as the process of migration to a PostgreSQL database. The paper describes the main problems encountered in the process of database migration, compares the performance of services when using both systems, and proposes methods for optimizing the PostgreSQL database.
