In the modern world, air travel has become an integral part of most people's lives, since airplanes are the fastest, and sometimes the only mode of transport that allows you to get to a certain destination. In 2022, the total passenger traffic worldwide exceeded 6.6 billion people, which is 43.8% more than in 2021. On the contrary, the total number of aircraft takeoff and landing operations worldwide in 2022 approached 85 million, which is 14.8% more than a year earlier. This work is devoted to the study of the concept of safety and the perception of it by passengers of Russian airlines. The study will examine the concepts of safety and anxiety in terms of air travel, the concept of controlled space in human life and its boundaries. Conducting a mixed type of research will allow for a better understanding of how airline passengers perceive the concept of air travel safety and what influences the perception of safety by passengers.
