Cultural and entertainment events that have preserved historically established features of visual communication are becoming difficult to be competitive due to their displacement by modern analogs that are more familiar to new generations. The purpose of this study is to examine the perception of generation z visual communication of Russian circuses on the example of circus posters using mixed research methods. A semiotic content analysis of 10 circus posters and a quantitative analysis of circus posters for the year 2023 are conducted to identify the main elements of communication. In-depth interviews are then conducted to identify respondents' attitudes towards this type of visual language, highlighting its barriers and attractions.
