The research is devoted to the analysis of the categories of time and space in the works of M. Ende (1929-1995) on the example of two novels: "Momo" (1973) and "The Neverending Story" (1989). The main purpose of the work is to study the ways in which M. Ende constructs the chronotope of his works, as well as to study the influence of time and space on the plot and subject of novels. One of the aspects of the work is the theoretical study of the chronotope in literature, as a central element in literary analysis. Considering specific examples from the text, we study in detail how the author creates dual worlds, contrasting reality and fantasy, at different levels: symbolic, metaphorical, lexical. As a result of the research, the key role of time and space in the poetics of the author was revealed, and the main functions of the chronotope in the analyzed novels were determined.
