The Evolution of Ways of Building a Female Character in Young-Adult Fantasy

Young-adult fantasy is a relatively new and one of the most popular literary genres that describes how teenagers see the world and themselves, as well as the processes taking place in society and affecting generations. The role of a female character in young-adult fantasy is one of the least studied areas of this genre, so there has been few works on the point study and comparison of female images in young-adult fantasy, which would cover the period from Tolkien's literature to the present. This thesis is aimed at identifying the changing and evolving ways of creating female images in the fantasy literature of the classical period, as well as identifying the causes of such transformations. The expected results of this study allow would to create a chronology of the changes that have undergone the ways of creating a female image in young-adult fantasy literature, as well as to identify the main focuses and trends that influenced the formation of female characters.
