Student: Polina Bolotnaia

Faculty: Faculty of Urban and Regional Development

Educational Programme: Urban Planning (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2024

Monoprofile municipalities, due to the specifics of their formation, the characteristics of their functioning, the strong dependence on the operation of the city-forming enterprise, and the large proportion of the population living in their territory, occupy a special place in the country's development planning. Strategic planning allows monotowns to create a foundation for changing the situation: to assess their own capabilities and make informed choices about the direction of development, to become more flexible in response to changing conditions, to react more quickly to new challenges, and to develop ways to attract investments to the area. Currently, monoprofile settlements actively utilize the opportunities of strategic planning, which has produced tangible results. However, it is necessary to systematize the accumulated experience during this time. The work analyzed the strategies of 6 monoprofile municipalities: Magnitogorsk, Kachkanar, Pikalevo, Kirovo-Chepetsk, Sarapul, and Kiselevsk.
