The purpose of this research is to fully understand the motivations behind young volunteers' participation in cultural-educational and economic-political projects and to conduct a comparative analysis of these motivations for different types of projects. As an organization with a cultural-educational project, Saint Petersburg Central Exhibition Hall “Manege” was taken. And for the organization making economic-political projects, Roscongress Foundation was chosen. The focus of the research is held on determining reasons for young people's participation in volunteer activities and their future perspectives on volunteering based on their previous volunteering experience. For this research, the topics of volunteering motivation and retention, as well as the specifics of episodic and event volunteering were studied covering the research area. The study found that affiliatory factors were the most significant motivation for volunteers in both project types, meaning that for volunteers it is highly valuable to be involved in the processes of the event or the exhibition and feel attached to it.
