The paper considers the problem of the applicability of the concept of gentrification to the description of the processes observed during the redevelopment of socialist housing in the context of the Moscow renovation program. The purpose of the work is to identify the presence (absence) of gentrification processes in the implementation of the state renovation program and their local specifics. As a result of a theoretical analysis of the literature and a spatial analysis of the proxy variable of the distribution of commercial points of high and low price class, it is concluded that there is indirect evidence of partial gentrification processes (displacement of less affluent groups of citizens) in residential buildings and those areas of Moscow that are initially more predisposed to the onset of gentrification. The research methodology is based on the assessment of spatial autocorrelation, clustering and concentration of a feature that acts as an indicator of the socio-economic situation of residents within walking distance from the point of commerce. The results of the work can be useful in further analysis of the projects of the CRT in the regions of Russia.
