The paper explores the phenomenon of verbal recording of contemporary dance as a special type of writing. Despite the growing number of textual materials about contemporary dance, there is still no single way to record and verbally archive dance experience. The study proposes a classification of existing texts on dance, taking into account its characteristics as a separate type of modern art. The practical part of the work is an attempt to analyze the verbal documentation of contemporary dance in Russia and identify the features characteristic of such texts. The analysis is based on the example of the works of contemporary dance artists Anna Kravchenko, Alexandra Konnikova, Daria Plokhova, Alexandra Portyannikova.
