Our research is devoted to the analysis of the transformation in popular culture of the centuries-old image of Loki, which originates in Norse mythology. Mass culture is of considerable importance in modern culture, and therefore deserves careful study. Having analyzed the corpus of mass literature containing the image of Loki, we made an attempt to understand how this image changes in fantasy literature, whether it is possible to identify the canonical image of Loki in mass literature, as well as to find out what features of the image of Loki were fixed for him in mass literature and where they originated from. This allowed us to conclude that the image under study is evolving and outline the main trends in the depiction of Loki in fantasy literature.
