This work is devoted to the problem of unauthorized housing construction in Kyzyl, Republic of Tyva. The purpose of the study is to identify the causes of the massive nature of unauthorized housing construction in Kyzyl and the impact of this process on urban development. In the course of the work, the connections of mass unauthorized construction with the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of the city, as well as the limitations of the local housing market, were revealed.
