Video game production is of a significant project based nature (and the companies themselves are project-oriented), besides, it is very close in terms of technological stack to classic IT (fintech, edtech etc), where there is a developed project management approach and tested methods of project product development management. However, the degree of implementation of the project approach in gamedev is rather low, which leads to inefficient use of available resources, both human, material and time, replication of errors due to the lack of analysis based on project documentation and transfer of knowledge and experience gained. Object of the study: the problem of choosing the most appropriate project management method for gamedev companies. Subject of the study: project management methods in the video game industry, their effectiveness and applicability, as well as the peculiarities of the processes of development and production of video games. The aim of the study is to select approaches and methods of choosing project management systems in the activities of gamdev studios engaged in the development and operation of games in order to improve their efficiency. The paper analysed ten authoritative literature sources, studied the actual problems of selecting a suitable method of project product development management in gamdev. Based on the project of bringing liveops project, which has been in operation since 2014, to China, an algorithm for selecting a suitable project development management method was proposed.
