Psychoanalytic Aspects of Female Leadership

The graduate qualification work is devoted to the study of psychoanalytic aspects of female leadership to identify the reasons for the development of intrapersonal role conflict in female leaders. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the ever-increasing number of women in leadership positions and engaged in managerial activities. The dissertation is based on an in-depth theoretical analysis that has shown that in leadership research, psychoanalytic approaches not only point to the unconscious as an integral part of leadership work, but also emphasize the importance of early childhood experiences for leadership behavior. A woman's stay in a leadership role actualizes her identity crisis related to competition with her own mother. In addition, the basis of the intrapersonal conflict lived by a woman leader is, on the one hand, the contradiction between instincts and actual needs, on the other hand, also the competition between the needs of the child and professional activity, which generates feelings of guilt and dissatisfaction. With the help of the conducted research, it was confirmed that staying in a leadership position of a female leader with unresolved internal conflict is associated with a high risk for the unit and the organization and requires additional attention. From the point of view of practical significance - the work shows that the study of psychoanalytical aspects of female leadership, allows us to find new approaches to understanding the nature of the intrapersonal conflict of a woman leader and to outline the prospects of getting out of the neurosis of both the woman herself and the unit she manages.
