Ways of Raising the Efficiency of a 3PL Provider's Refrigerated Warehouse

In modern world, where logistics plays an increasingly important role in the economy, refrigerated warehouse is an integral part of the supply chain. Improving the productivity of cold refrigerated warehouse operations is important because it directly impacts the company's financial performance, quality, product safety, and the level of service provided to customers. The purpose of the study is to develop a system of measures aimed to improve the efficiency of the material handling process in a refrigerated warehouse. The objectives are: 1) analysis of the role of warehouse activities in ensuring the competitiveness of a 3PL provider; 2) analysis of typical problems in the material handling process in refrigerated warehouses of 3PL providers and the reasons for their occurrence; 3) development of a system of measures aimed to improve the efficiency of the material handling process in the refrigerated warehouse of a 3PL provider; 4) assessment of the economic effect of the implementation of the proposed measures. The object of the study is a refrigerated warehouse of a 3PL provider. The subject of the study is the material handling process in a refrigerated warehouse. Research methods consist of monitoring the technological process of cargo handling in a warehouse, semi-structured interviews with company employees, and analysis of scientific literature. The main sources of information used when working on the project are textbooks and monographs, articles in scientific and popular science magazines on warehousing logistics (especially about refrigerated warehouses), reviews of the warehouse real estate market in Russia, data received from GXO Logistics. The practical significance of the work is that it offers specific ways to improve the efficiency of a 3PL provider’s refrigerated warehouse. This can be useful for logistics companies that want to optimize their processes and improve the quality of services provided. The results and recommendations of this work can be used in practice to improve the management of warehouse operations, reduce costs and improve the level of customer service. As a result, through an analysis of typical problems in 3PL provider warehouses and ways to overcome them, a system of measures to improve the efficiency of the 3PL provider's refrigerated warehouse operation was developed. Key areas for improving the operation of the GXO Logistics warehouse in Klimovsk were identified, based on their financial impact on the company, and specific steps for their implementation were proposed. The economic effect of the implementation of the proposed measures for the GXO Logistics warehouse was also assessed. Measures proposed for implementation for the GXO Logistics warehouse in Klimovsk, – implementation of the Pick-by-Voice system, as well as staff training. This will help reduce damage from picking errors, which will reduce costs, increase net profit by 2.4%, net profit margin by 2.5%, and ROA by 3.03%. All this will lead to an increase in ROE by 3.59%.
