The research focuses on the analysis of publications of local newspapers in the city of Ekaterinodar in order to identify and understand the linguistic and discursive means used in regional media discourse to form the identity of residents of the new territories of Russia annexed after the Caucasian War. The corpus for the project was assembled from the archive of the newspaper "Kuban Regional Vedomosti" and divided into three years: 1877, 1878 and 1880. The analysis of articles includes the definition of a key topic, macro position, subject, assistant, opponent, plot, roles, value attitude, precedent phenomena, toponyms and lexical units. The key topics are society and economics, nature, history and culture. The corpus is summarized in three tables to systematize the resulting markup. The results of the study show that the topic "society and economics" is the most popular in publications, and it was also found that the similarity between the analysis criteria can be traced in different years and topics.
