Pedophilia in Modern Society: Psychoanalytic Perspective

The master's thesis "Pedophilia in modern society: psychoanalytic point of view" examines the problems of the phenomenon of pedophilia, as well as related historical, cultural, and social aspects. The authors raise the issue of the effectiveness of psychoanalytic work with pedophiles. The study consists of two chapters: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the work presents a critical analysis and systematization of approaches to the studied concept of pedophilia in the cultural and historical aspect and from the point of view of psychoanalysis from the end of the 19th century to the current state of scientific thought on the issue. In the part on the mental model of a pedophile, perversion is specifically studied in the context of the borderline personality organization, primitive defense mechanisms of the pervert are considered, attention is focused on benign and malignant perversions. In the empirical part, based on the considered theoretical sources, cases of psychoanalytic work with pedophiles are analyzed, as well as the case of a patient who was subjected to sexual violence in childhood is presented, and recommendations for the implementation of therapy are proposed. In conclusion, the results of the study are formulated, the conclusions are summarized and prospects for further study of the phenomenon of pedophilia are outlined.
