Educational Programme: Modern Social Analysis (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2024

According to Inglehart's “evolutionary theory of modernization”, if survival of the society is not threatened, people's values change across generations and the values of self-expression become the most sought after. However, crises and shocks can cause values to change more rapidly. One of the biggest shocks in recent years is the COVID-19 pandemic, which has become a challenge for the whole world. This master's thesis analyzes the changing levels of religiosity in 15 countries before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. A multilevel analysis was used, which was conducted on data from the World Value Survey (before the pandemic), European Social Survey (before the pandemic), and Values in Crisis (during the pandemic).
