In the master’s thesis, a complex issue of eating disorders (EDs) is explored through the prism of psychoanalytic research. The work utilizes the method of psychoanalytic biography, which allows analyzing the manifestations and causes of eating disorders on a case-by-case basis. The first chapter presents the historical perspective of psychodynamic theories of eating disorders. The second chapter discusses contemporary object relations theories and their application in the analysis of eating disorders, which helps to better understand the nature of this issue. The third chapter provides a brief biography of Princess Diana and an analysis of her relationships with the members of the royal family, offering insight into the influence of the family environment on personality development. In the fourth chapter, the authors conduct a psychoanalytic study of Princess Diana's life, examining various manifestations of her eating disorder and their probable causes from the perspective of mental functioning. The scientific novelty of this research lies in its holistic examination of eating disorders (EDs) through the integration of theoretical views of various approaches in psychoanalysis and the systematization of the knowledge acquired.
