School-age bullying has a long-term impact on the mental health and interpersonal relationships of victims. The aim of this study is to investigate the peculiarities of marital relationships in people who were bullied at school age. Methods: A questionnaire survey and statistical data processing were used. The "Experience of Close Relationships" questionnaire by C. Brennan, S. Clark, and F. Shaver, the method "Features of Communication Between Spouses" by Y.E. Aleshina, L.Y. Gozman, and E.M. Dubovskaya, and the "Self-Report Scale of Jealousy" by Louis Janda were applied. Sample: 215 people aged 20 to 40 years (mean age 27 years) in marital relationships without children. Participants were divided into three groups: regularly bullied, episodically bullied, and not bullied. Results: - People who were regularly bullied were characterized by a more pronounced anxious attachment type compared to those who were not bullied. No differences were found in avoidant attachment type. - The groups exposed to bullying have lower levels of trust and ease of communication in marital relationships. Those who were regularly bullied had particularly low levels. - No significant differences were found in the level of jealousy between the groups. - Correlation analysis showed that in the group of those who were not bullied, the anxious type of attachment is inversely related to the ease of communication and directly related to the level of jealousy. In the bullying groups, the anxious attachment type was also correlated with increased jealousy. Conclusions: - The hypothesis that bullying during school years is associated with a more pronounced anxious attachment type is confirmed. - The hypothesis of lower levels of emotional intimacy and trust in marital relationships among people who have been bullied was confirmed. The results underscore the need to incorporate the experience of bullying into the analysis of spousal relationships and to develop support programs to help survivors of bullying improve their interpersonal and spousal relationships.
