Personal Style of the Client as a Metaphor in Psychoanalytic Coaching

Abstract to the Graduation qualification project on the topic «Personal Style of the Client as a Metaphor in Psychoanalytic Coaching». The project’s aim is a comprehensive study of psychology understanding of personal style, internal and outside presentation, psychoanalytic aspects of the self-image, personal style as metaphor for processes in personal and work spheres of psychoanalytic coaching clients, determining their prerequisites from early scenes of relationships with primary objects that formed patterns, establishing the expression of these processes in clients’ personal style and their relationship with their external, exploring the possibilities of coaching work with requests with personal style metaphor. The object of research was the idea of the personal style and wardrobe of psychoanalytic coaching clients. The project’s subject was the expression of image of the real and ideal Self through the external style and wardrobe. The introduction shows the project’s relevance, which consists in the study of personal style as vivid individual non-verbal manifestation. The theoretical chapter views psychological and psychoanalytic understanding of personal style, the image of the Self and its integrity, the identification and representation of images of the Self, clothing as second skin. The empirical chapter provides a qualitative analysis of individual client cases using the psychoanalytic coaching method and the projective wardrobe collage technique. The conclusion is devoted to main summaries and suggestions. The style of clothing is an aspect of deep individual psychological process, expresses the connection of clothing and identity, internal conflicts, can serve as a metaphor for the image of the Self, which implies an interest of psychoanalytic coaching in it. Nowadays the research of individual personal style comes to new level, understanding the external image as a manifestation of the individual's Self.
