Women’s Voice in Postcolonial Literature with the Example of Mariama Ba’s Epistolary Novel “Une si Longue Lettre”

This thesis examines the phenomenon of the Women's Voice through the novel "Une si longue lettre" by Senegalese Writer Mariama Ba. The aim of the analysis is to identify the features of postcolonial poetics and the specifics of feminist discourse revealed in the epistolary text. In the theoretical part of the study, we examine the history of Senegal, the role of historical transformations in the fate of Mariama Ba and the significance of her public activities for the resolution of the issue of gender inequality in West Africa. The second part of the work, devoted directly to the analysis of Ba's debut novel, explores the concept of women writing, the specifics of narrative structure, the motif of memory and the image of the Other.
